2010 Application Guidelines

There is no standard application form. To apply, send us the following:

  • Application Cover Sheet [PDF] please include this at the top of your application.
  • a brief biographical sketch including professional achievements
  • a statement of your plan for work at Blue Mountain Center
  • how you heard about BMC, including names of previous BMC residents whom you know, if any
  • samples of your work:

    Writers

    • Thirty pages maximum (we prefer one-sided, double-spaced, manuscript style).
    • Writers should designate 10 of those pages for a preliminary reading and make 4 copies of this.
    • Please leave writing sample unsigned to insure anonymity.

    Artists

    • Submit ten slides, or one CD copy of ten work samples in jpeg format. Please include a corresponding image list that cites titles, sizes, medium, and dates. If sending a CD, name each JPEG file with "your last name_your first initial_1.jpg", "your last name_your first initial_2.jpg", etc.
    • Suitable image resolution is 72 dpi. Each JPEG may be no larger than 1600 pixels in any direction.
    • Please designate 5 slides/images for preliminary viewing.
    • Composers may send tapes or CDs; scores are not necessary.
    • Film/Video applicants should send VHS or DVDs. Please designate 10 minutes for preliminary viewing
    • If you wish to have your sample returned, please enclose a SASE
  • your session preference for our 2010 Sessions:

    Session 1 (June 18 to July 16)
    Session 2 (July 24 to August 21)
    Session 3 (September 3 to October 1)

  • $20 application processing fee.

Spouses are not included in the invitation, although they may apply separately. Each applicant will be evaluated as an individual.

Applications should be postmarked no later than February 2. Admissions Committee decisions will be made by April 6 and applicants will be notified immediately thereafter.
